| Rudy’s Diner is a downtown Torrance landmark. I actually find myself there for breakfast, but their lunch menu is also a good reason to visit. Coming from the Midwest, I’m used to “stick to your ribs” diner fare. It’s hard to find such home cooked comfort food that’s as good as Rusy’s fare in SoCal. They serve these favorites and more with significant Mexican influence. Chile Colorado, beef stroganoff, . Tortillas are available instead of bread or as a side, and the tortillas are expertly grilled and served piping hot in aluminum foil. Sipping coffee with or after your meal while taking in some sunshine on Rudy’s patio is a simple pleasure.
The best seats at Rudy’ are outside on the sidewalk. The interior is probably only recommended if it’s pouring down rain or freezing cold, and the dining area is fairly cramped. Lunch and drink will run you about $10 with tip. Make sure that you tip the waitresses at Rudy’s well, because these girls really work for it. |
